During a press conference held in the French consulate on Monday, Ambassador Stephane Roumtier said his country is undertaking preparations for Egypt's president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's upcoming visit to Paris, where he is set to discuss regional and international issues as well as work with French President Emmanuel Macron towards boosting bilateral relations.

Roumtier affirmed the security situation is now suitable for the return of French tourism to Egypt. The ambassador pointed out that cooperation between both countries has been mutlifaceted in recent years, including military relations, which he described as "firm and strong."

"Egypt is battling terrorism in Sinai just as French citizens battled it today, which urges both nations towards more cooperation to combat terrorism," Roumtier added, referring to recent attacks in France.

The visit is the first by the Egyptian president since the election of President Macron in May 2017.

Last month, France's ambassador to Cairo announced that Egypt's President Sisi will visit France in the fall of this year upon an invitation from his French counterpart.
