Governor of North Sinai, General Morad Moafy, refuted on Tuesday claims that Egypt had seized missiles being smuggled into Gaza as alleged by online news agencies.
He added that old war debris is often found in Sinai and that appropriate measures are taken to clear it.
The Palestinian news agency Ma'an as well as the Israeli newspapers Haaretz and Jerusalem Post reported on Tuesday that Egyptian security forces had uncovered a stockpile of weapons in the middle of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, including anti-aircraft missiles. According to the reports, the weapons were bound for Gaza.
Moafy, however, has stated that the reports by the online news agencies are inaccurate.
