The speaker of Egypt's House of Representatives travelled to the US on Friday with a delegation of MPs to hold talks with members of Congress on boosting bilateral relations.

The delegation led by Ali Abdel-Aal will meet with Paul Ryan, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, as well as members of committees on foreign affairs, intelligence and the budget.

The delegation will also meet with officials from the American Chamber of Commerce to discuss economic developments in Egypt in light of the government’s economic reform programme.

In July, a US congressional delegation, headed by Republican Senator Roger Wicker held talks with top Egyptian officials in Cairo on means of fighting terrorism and files of common interests.
