Egypt condemned on Tuesday an air strike by an unidentified party in Libya's eastern city of Derna that killed at least 17 civilians on Monday.

The Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement that the Egyptian government offers its condolence to the families of the victims as well as the political leaderships of Libya.

No one has claimed responsibility for the air strike, which has been condemned by all rival powers in the war-torn country.

Eastern Libya has been witnessing clashes between rival forces in the country, including the Islamist militant group Daesh.
