Egypt's air forces foiled an infiltration attempt aimed at smuggling weapons through the western borders, a statement issued by the army spokesperson on Wednesday read.

Armed Forces Spokesman Colonel Tamer El-Refaie said the country's air forces, acting on intel, targeted and destroyed ten 4x4 wheelers carrying ammunition, weapons, and other smuggled substances before entry to the country.

"This comes as the armed forces continue to exert efforts to establish strategic control on the country's borders to stop any attempt of smuggling or infiltration," the statement read.
