Egypt has affirmed its support for Somalia's fight against terrorism after a suicide bombing attack killed at least 18 officers at a police academy in Mogadishu on Thursday, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Cairo emphasised its "full support for the Somali government to rebuild state institutions and achieve security and stability in the country," the statement said.

A suicide bomber disguised as a policeman blew himself up inside a police training camp, killing at least 18 officers and injuring 15 others.
