A military source has denied claims repeated by some newspapers that General Sami Anan, the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), told Emad Abdel Ghafour, the chairman of the Nour party, that there will be a new government right after the parliamentary elections.

On Monday, several websites reported Abdel Ghafour as claiming that Anan told him that the party or the alliance that will get the majority in the parliamentary elections will form the upcoming government.

Last week, several SCAF members made it clear that the political group that holds the majority in the parliament will not form the upcoming government, as this would not coform with the rules the military council set in the constitutional declaration it issued in March.

According to the constitutional declaration, the presidential system applied currently in Egypt gives the president the exclusive right to form the government.
