The Freedom and Justice Party has denied claims published in the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth that the Muslim Brotherhood held talks with the US administration regarding the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty.

The secretary-general of Freedom and Justice Party, Mohamed Saad El-Kataany, stated Thursday that the Israeli newspaper report was completely false and that no such talks with American or Israeli counterparts on the peace treaty had taken place.

El-Kataany added that the party’s stance is fixed when it comes to international treaties; that the party respects all international treaties as long as they achieve their goals, noting that parliament has the right to revise any treaty that does not achieve its goals.

In its report, Yedioth Ahronoth published a statement attributed to US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman about talks between the US administration and the Muslim Brotherhood regarding the future of the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty.
