In an official statement, armed forces spokesman Tamer El-Refaie said the second field army, in coordination with air forces, killed the extremists and arrested two others.
The army also destroyed a number of hideouts used by the terrorists, as well as a 4x4 vehicle laden with explosives and six improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Another car carrying explosive materials was also seized by the authorities.
