Egypt's Army Chief-of-Staff Mohamed Farid inspected on Wednesday the security status and Second Field Army units deployed in North Sinai, as well as the implementation of tactics and plans to counter terrorism in the governorate.

Farid reviewed a report on the technical and administrative efficiency of the forces and discussed the implementation of military tactics and ways of addressing emergency situations.

The chief-of-staff praised the high morale of the forces, stressing that the Armed Forces will always serve as Egypt's protective shield.

The Egyptian military has been fighting in North Sinai against Islamist terrorists that have regularly carried out attacks over the past few years, mostly against security personnel.
