Food samples inspected after 55 demonstrators at Cabinet sit-in fell ill after allegedly being poisoned

Judge Tarek Abu Zeid of the South Cairo prosecution has ordered samples of the allegedly poisoned meals offered to demonstrators at the Cabinet be inspected. The samples have been sent to the Ministry of Health's central labs.

The prosecution has heard the victims’ testimonies alleging that an unidentified woman, with the help of a man, handed out the poisoned meals, causing those who ate the food to vomit and faint. The stricken were transferred to hospital.

General-Prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud had ordered on Wednesday evening an immediate investigation into the outbreak.
