Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades visited on Tuesday the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa in Alexandria.

Patriarch Theodoros II of the Patriarchate welcomed the two presidents at the Greek Orthodox church in central Alexandria.

President Pavlopoulos and President Anastasiades were accompanied during the visit by Egypt's Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram.

Patriarch Theodoros II awarded Pavlopoulos, Anastasiades and Makram with Cross of St. Mark, the honorary religious medal of the patriarchate, for their role in forging unity between the Egyptian, Greek and Cypriot people.

On Monday, Pavlopoulos, Anastsiades and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated in Alexandria the week-long "Nostos: Roots Revival" heritage event, during which Greeks and Cypriots who once lived in Egypt return to visit Alexandria, Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh.
