A huge fire was put out at a church under construction in Shubra El-Kheima just north of Cairo on Monday, Al-Ahram Arabic reported.

Ten fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire that spread through the under-construction Anba Makar Church.

A security source told Al-Ahram Arabic that no one was injured or killed in the events in Qalioubiya governorate.

The source added that the fire had begun in some of the building materials being used to pour cement into the foundations.

The Egyptian security services are investigating the cause of the fire, Al-Ahram reported.
