Donald Trump's Middle East team has arrived in Cairo to continue discussing schemes for a ‎potential Palestinian-Israeli peace deal, Egyptian airport sources confirmed to Ahram Online.

Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and US Envoy Jason Greenblatt will reportedly meet with Egyptian officials later on Thursday. The American officials are also expected to meet with President ‎Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, however the Egyptian president’s team has not yet announced if or when the meeting will take place.

This meeting comes as part of a Middle Eastern tour conducted by the U.S. Middle East team, which was ‎organized to discuss a potential peace deal between Palestine and Israel with various Arab leaders. The team met with Jordan's King Abdullah II on Tuesday and with Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin ‎Salman. ‎

The team is expected to visit Qatar and Israel for further discussions. ‎

Tensions between Palestinians and Israelis have escalated once more after the United States declared that they recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital city. The United States proceeded to move its embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14 despite major international backlash.

Peaceful protests against the US decision conducted by Palestinians at the Gaza borders quickly turned bloody after Israeli soldiers were ordered to shoot protestors with live fire. So far at least 60 protestors have been killed since the protests began.
