The collapse of a tunnel connecting Rafah and Gaza on Thursday left one Palestinian worker dead and another injured.

The tunnel used to smuggle goods collapsed while the two workers were working near the city of Rafah in Egypt southwest of the Gaza strip.

The worker was announced dead on arrival at the Abou Seif Al-Najjar hospital, while the injured worker is reportedly being treated for minor injuries.

According to human rights organisations, there have been 200 fatalities due to accidents inside the tunnels since 2006.
