Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad Khaled Youssri said on Tuesday that the Egyptian Consulate in Los Angeles closely follows up the case of an Egyptian citizen whose body was found in San Diego.

Heitham Abdel Qader el Shayeb was found dead by the US authorities 2.5 miles from San Diego beaches.

He was identified by his fingerprints because he was not holding any identity papers, Youssri noted.

Investigations are underway to determine the causes of his death.
