Egypt hails lifting UN sanctions against Eritrea

Cairo reiterated its support for efforts to bring peace, security, and stability to the East Africa region

Egypt has welcomed a UN Security Council resolution to lift sanctions imposed on Eritrea, considering it an important step, the foreign ministry said.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the foreign ministry hailed the step, saying it is key for achieving stability in the Horn of Africa and the whole continent.

It reiterated Cairo's support for all efforts to bring peace, security, and stability in the East Africa region, the statement added.
