Egypt's civil aviation ministry has said that Cairo airport’s check-in systems are functioning normally after three hours of disruption this morning.

Minister of Civil Aviation Younis El-Masri toured the airport and inspected the airlines who were manually handling passengers while the issue was underway.

All delayed flights had left Cairo by 10am local time, according to the statement.

The statement said that all services are back to normal and that all flights are on schedule.

The disruption in the check-in systems on Sunday morning was caused by a technical breakdown in the communication channels between the global booking systems and the check-in systems, an earlier ministry statement had said.

The disruption affected terminals two and three, and a seasonal terminal.

A specialised technical team had been tasked with dealing with the situation and providing all necessary facilities for passengers.
