Nader Bakkar announces that he will withdraw his case against activist Negm who accused him of being a state security informant

Salafist media spokesman Nader Bakkar has announced on his Facebook page that he will withdraw the legal case filed against political activist Nawara Negm after she was attacked by around 25 men in front of the state TV building in Maspero last night.

“I was very angry to watch the video of Nawara Negm. Those who have beaten her lack manhood. The Prophet has neither beaten a woman nor a servant … Egypt needs an ethical revolution,” wrote Bakkar on his Facebook page.

Bakkar had filed a case against Negm for posting on social media sites that he worked as an informant with State Security Investigations, which allegedly pays him LE450 monthly for information on Ansar Sunna Mohamedia Mosque, located in Ramsis Street.

Negm is one of the political activists sent to the New Cairo Court this month on charges of inciting violence against the armed forces on 16 December 2011.
