Romania stressed on Wednesday keenness on coordinating with Egypt regarding the European policies on the African continent as the country takes over the chair of the African Union (AU) in 2019.

This came during a meeting held between Deputy Foreign Minister for the African Affairs Hamdi Sanad Loza and Romania's Secretary of State for Global Affairs Monica Gheorghita.

The meeting discussed relations between the two countries as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In light of Romania's presidency to the European Union (EU) during first half of 2019, Gheorghita said her country seeks to coordinate with Egypt regarding the European policies on Africa in order to enhance economic cooperation and focus on issues of mutual concern to both continents.
