Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri gave a speech in the occasion of the January 25 Revolution's first anniversary, thanking and commemorating the revolution’s martyrs and injured, saying “They have sacrificed for the sake of the nation and for achieving freedom, democracy and social justice.”

He added that what Egypt needs is for each of its citizens to work productively in all its economic sectors to achieve a fair distribution of national income. Ganzouri also greeted Egypt’s new People's Assembly, the first to be elected after the revolution, and thanked all those who made the legislative elections possible, especially judges who supervised them along with the military and the police.

Ganzouri further stated: “I salute the brave military council for meeting its promises.” He assured that the only proper compensation for the martyrs is retribution, adding that the most important thing now is for Egyptians to stay united.
