Arab water and agriculture ministers are meeting in Cairo on Thursday to discuss food and water security in the Arab world, state news agency MENA reported.

The gathering at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat is expected to discuss policies of the water and agriculture sectors in the region. The ministers are planned to agree to create a high-level committee to boost cooperation between Arab countries in the fields of water and agriculture, and to hold regular ministerial meetings in the near future.

Egyptian Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati and Agriculture Minister Ezzedin Abu Steit are heading Egypt's delegation at the meeting.
