Egypt’s 2019-2020 school and academic year is scheduled to start 21 September across the country, the education minister said Saturday.

Kindergarten as well as first and second primary grades is scheduled 10 days earlier, Minister of Education Tarek Shawky said during a ministry meeting.

The half-year break is scheduled to begin 25 January and run for two weeks, with schools and universities to resume on 8 February.

Both private and state-run schools and universities in Egypt run for two terms, with two major holidays during the year: half-year and summer.
