Egypt's army foils suicide attack on North Sinai security checkpoint

One army serviceman was killed in the incident

Egypt's Armed Forces foiled a suicide attack targeting a security checkpoint early Thursday in North Sinai governorate.

According to an Armed Forces statement, the suicide attacker attempted to target a security checkpoint near a parking lot in Sheikh Zuweid city.

The terrorist element was killed by security forces before arriving to the checkpoint, yet his belt detonated, the statement added.

An Egyptian army serviceman was killed in the incident.
