Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi attended on Monday the graduation ceremony of a new batch of cadets from Egypt's military academies and the Armed Forces Technical Institute.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Defence and Military Production Mohamed Zaki and a number of ministers, senior state officials and public figures attended the ceremony, which was held at the Military Academy premises.

In a speech during the ceremony, President El-Sisi said that combating terrorism is one of the biggest and most important challenges Egypt has faced, but thanks to the Egyptian Armed Forces and police, the "terrorist plots" have been foiled.

El-Sisi added that Egypt has also addressed the phenomenon of terrorism through construction and development, which have contributed to providing a good life for Egyptians.

"Today is a glorious day when we celebrate the graduation of a new class of cadets from the military academies,” President El-Sisi said.

The president highlighted that the graduation ceremony coincides with the 67th anniversary of Egypt’s July Revolution.

"[The July Revolution] is a precious page in the history of Egypt. It defended the nation's future and managed to change life in the country, making a radical change in the history of modern Egypt," El-Sisi said.

El-Sisi added that the July Revolution's impact also reached other people in the world who were looking for freedom and independence.

The president also saluted late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel-Nasser, who led the July Revolution, as well as late president Anwar El-Sadat and late president Mohamed Naguib, both of whom played major roles in the revolution.

The president also praised the strength of the Egyptian people and how they have persevered throughout all the difficult stages experienced in the country.

"We are continuing with the reforms, we have adopted a promising comprehensive reform plan focused on building the national economy, we have made accomplishments that are recognised by the whole world," El-Sisi said, adding that the Egyptian people are the real heroes behind these achievements.

"Without the Egyptian people, we could not walk the path of reform," he said.

"The Egyptian people are doing it all, our role is only in setting down the vision and the direction. Egyptians are intelligent and cannot be deceived by sweet talk;our success has been due to you," the president said.

"We will never bow to terrorism," El-Sisi said, adding that the Egyptian people are the ones who have protected the state from terrorism and radicalism.

Before his speech, President El-Sisi honoured the top students graduating from the country’s different military academies.

Nearly 1,500 students from various military academies took part in a joint drill demonstration during the ceremony.

The Armed Forces Training Authority said on Monday that 99.8 percent of military school students have successfully graduated, and that the defence minister has endorsed the results.

The graduates then took the oath of allegiance.

During the ceremony, the top graduates presented the president with the Shield of Egyptian Universities.
