Egypt's minister of culture inaugurates 3rd book fair of Saint Mark's Church in Alexandria

Egypt's Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem, along with Father Abram Emile, Deputy of the Pope Tawadros II and Deputy Patriarch of Alexandria inaugurated on Tuesday the Third Book Fair of Saint Mark's Church in Alexandria, which will last until 10 August.

The inauguration was attended by Ahmad Gamal, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, and Haitham El-Hajj, head of The Egyptian General Book Organization.

During the inauguration, Abdel-Dayem said that knowledge is digging its way to reach all of Egypt, assuring the role of reading and culture in building identity and the development of society. 

She pointed out that the third book fair of St. Mark Church is an extension of enlightenment hosted by the historical city of Alexandria, which played a major role in Egyptian progression through the ages.

Abdel-Dayem also thanked the church for hosting this book fair for three consecutive years, announcing the dedication of a library of publications from the ministry to the church.

The minister appreciated the role of Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in spreading awareness and enlightenment.

Father Abram praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture in spreading thought and valuable arts, stressing the faith of the Egyptian Church and Pope Tawadros II in the positive influence culture has on building and developing our society. 

He mentioned the Church's interest in cultural movement, stemming from the coronation of Pope Cyril IV in the 19th century.

The Minister of Culture honored Father Abram and the Deputy Governor of Alexandria, dedicating them the shield of the Golden Jubilee of Cairo International Book Fair, while Father Abram honored The Minister of Culture, Deputy Governor of Alexandria and Haitham El-Hajj, bestowing the memorial shield of St. Mark Church.
