Egyptian Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aty, who is heading the Egyptian state hajj mission this year, has denied media reports that some pilgrims were unable to reach Mount Arafat on Saturday.
A video circulated on social networking websites claiming that some pilgrims had not been able to reach the holy site because of a lack of availability of buses to transport them.
Abdel Aty directed Undersecretary of the Tourism Ministry Magdi Shalabi to verify the claims and to take legal procedures against any violating travel agencies.
Shalabi said that some pilgrims had obtained visas without also obtaining contracts with travel agencies to oversee them, adding that the problem has been solved and all pilgrims have been taken by buses to the site.
