The Egyptian government is planning to build a fourth terminal at Cairo International Airport to increase its capacity, the company which operates the airport said.

The Cairo Airport Company has drawn up all necessary studies to build the new terminal to reduce traffic at the airport's other three terminals, chair Ahmed Fawzy said in a statement on Friday.

The plan to set up the new terminal is part of a series of development projects being carried out at the airport. These include an upgrade to Terminal 1 as well as the airport's baggage handling system.

The airport's third terminal was created ten years ago.
