For the first time in Egypt a mango festival was organised in the Family Park, New Cairo, on Friday from 2:00pm to 10:30pm.

"The idea of the festival was first brought up when I visited the Obour wholesale market during the mango season, where I recognised many types of mangoes and wondered why no one had previously held a mango entertainment fest," said Amr Mohamed Matar, one of the organisers and chairman of a training and consulting company.

The festival, which saw a fair turnout, included artistic activities, singing and musical performances in addition to entertainment shows and games for children and adults.

It also comprised a tasting corner for the visitors to eat and drink mangoes, a mango plantation and a shopping bazaar.

Prices of tickets ranged between EGP 120-150 depending on the number of individuals. Free entrance was granted to people with special needs and children under three years of age.
