The Egyptian Armed Forces will continue to exert every effort to boost their combat and technical abilities in line the world's most advanced weapons systems, Minister of Defence and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki said on Tuesday.
These efforts are directed towards preserving national security and exploring new horizons for military cooperation with friendly states for establishing peace and security and to face regional challenges, the minister added.
General Zaki made his remarks during a meeting with Egyptian naval forces in the Northern Military Region.
A host of senior army officials attended the meeting.
The defence mninister started the meeting by observing a minute of silence in remembrance of the police and army heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend their country.
He also conveyed the greetings of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to all members of the Armed Forces in appreciation for their valiant efforts.
The meeting took up the latest developments at the local, regional and international levels.
Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled delivered a speech during which he asserted the naval forces' resolve to efficiently and deftly carry out any missions assigned to them.
