MENA , Saturday 28 Sep 2019

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has stressed that there should not be any kind of tolerance in dealing with countries that support terrorism and terrorist groups in Syria.

The minister had a meeting with the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on Saturday on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York to mull the latest developments in the Syrian crisis.

Shoukry reaffirmed that terrorism and extremist organizations in Syria, as well as the infiltration of foreign fighters into Syrian lands should be confronted, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said in a statement released to the press.

The foreign minister reiterated that Egypt provides all means of support to settle the Syrian crisis and restore security and stability to the Syrian people, welcoming the formation of an all-inclusive constitutional committee to rewrite the country’s constitution.

Pedersen hailed Egypt’s support to efforts aimed at solving the Syrian crisis, expressing appreciation of Cairo’s role in contacting Syrian and regional parties on that score.
