Sudanese national arrested following protests handed over to Khartoum: Egypt's foreign ministry

MENA , Ahram Online , Friday 4 Oct 2019

The Egyptian foreign ministry said on Friday that Sudanese national Walid Abdel-Rahman, who was among a number of foreigners arrested following limited anti-government protests in Cairo last month, has been handed over to Sudanese authorities.

The move reflects the great existing cooperation between the Egyptian and Sudanese executive bodies and the brotherly relationship between the two peoples, a foreign ministry statement said.

Abdel-Rahman, who was previously interrogated by the police, has been handed over to the Sudanese authorities after the finalization of all legal procedures by Egypt's Supreme State Security Prosecution, the statement explained.

On Thursday, Egypt's General Prosecution said that it released a number of foreign defendants, including two Jordanians and a Sudanese national, who were detained during the anti-government protests on 20 September, at the request of their embassies.
