Egypt's security forces uncovered a gang consisting of 22 criminals illegally working in archaeological excavation near the archaeological sites in Giza.

The criminals had discovered a Pharaonic cemetery dating back to the Fourth Dynasty, and excavated some of its artefacts.

Police forces arrested four of the criminals in possession of 193 statues and a large sarcophagus.

Police notified the General Prosecution and the Ministry of Antiquities.
