Egypt's civil defence forces have managed to contain a huge blaze that broke out on Sunday night at a Coptic church in South Cairo, with no casualties reported.
The fire broke out Sunday evening at the Mar Guirgis Orthodox Church in Helwan.
The civil defence forces deployed 13 fire engines to contain the blaze that engulfed the old church, which is built largely of wood.
A source at the Cairo security directorate told Al-Ahram Arabic news website that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Originally built and owned by Armenian Orthodox Church , it was bought by the Coptic Orthodox Church in the 1970s.
