President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Monday visited the Reichstag Building, the historical seat of the German parliament (Bundestag), where he was received by Bundestag Speaker Wolfgang Schäuble.

Welcoming President El-Sisi to Germany, Schäuble applauded the special relationship between the peoples of both countries, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

The speaker underlined his country's commitment to supporting Egypt's sustainable development efforts and the German-Egyptian partnership in various domains, especially at the parliamentary level.

The meeting took up the latest regional developments as well as Egypt's holistic approach to dealing with terrorism, extremism and illegal migration, Rady added.

Meanwhile, El-Sisi said that he was looking forward to pushing bilateral ties forward at various levels.

Highlighting Egypt's pivotal role in preserving regional security and stability, Schäuble commended Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism and promote the culture of tolerance and religious freedom, the spokesman noted.
