Units of Egyptian armed forces' special forces, “Thunderbolt," and Britain's special forces have conducted a joint counter-terrorism drill, the Egyptian armed forces announced on Thursday.
This is the first time the two countries have held such a field training for special forces.
Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer, the UK's defence senior advisor to the Middle East attended part of the drill.
From their part, the British military officials praised the good organising of the drill in addition to the excellent level the units showed in the different stages of the drill.
The British officials also expressed how this drill was considered an extension of the strategic relations between Egypt and the UK in fighting terrorism.
The drill comes as part of the series of joint drills the Egyptian armed forces conduct with friendly and sister countries, to exchange and transfer expertise and to support military cooperation between different countries.
