Former leading member of Al-Qaeda arrested in Egypt

Authorities at Cairo airport on Wednesday arrested Mohamed Ibrahim Mekkawi – also known as Saif El-Adl  – a former leading member of Al-Qaeda.

He arrived on a flight from the UAE en route from Pakistan.

El-Adl is a former officer in the Egyptian army. He travelled to Afghanistan in 1994.
