Head of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority Sami Shaaban praised in a statement the cooperation protocol signed on Monday between the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) and an Egyptian radiological decontamination company.
According to Shaaban’s statement, the Egyptian company works on eliminating radioactive contamination from natural radioactive materials in equipment and tools used in drilling and in the detection of oil, natural gas and groundwater.
The company also works on eliminating contaminations from some oil treatment operations that can leave behind residue of natural radioactive materials in the equipment and tools used.
Head of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority Sami Shaaban explained that the cooperation between EAEA and the company will help in reducing the impact of any radiation or pollution from petroleum discoveries and in petroleum products.
He asserted that the Nuclear Regulatory Authority trusts the EAEA and its ability to eliminate any radioactive contaminations, as the EAEA has international expertise and tools to eliminate such contaminants.
