Egypt's minister of State for Military Production Mohamed El-Assar held talks with Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini on means of boosting joint cooperation in various areas of manufacturing.

During a meeting held at the headquarters of the ministry, both sides lauded the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in defense and civilian industries.

They reviewed the latest developments pertaining to the ongoing cooperation between the ministry's-affiliate companies and the Italian firms, said a statement released by the ministry on Friday.

El-Assar also invited the Italian envoy and companies to participate in Egypt defense expo (EDEX 2020).

Meanwhile, Cantini praised the distinguished historical ties binding both countries and the positive developments witnessed in relations over the past period.

He said that Italy attaches importance to developing relations with Egypt as well as fostering coordination and cooperation between both countries so as to face many challenges in the region.

He also highlighted the role of Egypt's Ministry of Military Production in supporting and encouraging investment, voicing keenness on increasing his country's investments in Egypt.
