Egypt's permanent delegation to the Arab League (AL) Council on Tuesday asserted that Egypt fully supports reaching a political solution to the Libyan crisis, spokesman of the foreign ministry Ahmed Hafez stated.
The solution should pave the way for regaining security and stability in the North African country, which in turn could preserve the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya, Hafez quoted the Egyptian delegation as saying during an extraordinary meeting of the AL Council.
The delegation also affirmed Egypt's keenness to settle the Libyan conflict, given that Egypt's national security is closely tied to that of Libya, and the threat facing collective Arab security, due to the absence of stability and security, as well as the spread of terrorist groups in Libya, Hafez noted.
Earlier on Wednesday, the AL Council stressed its rejection of any foreign interference in Libya's national affairs through facilitating the entry of militias into the war-torn country or violating international resolutions to impose an arms embargo there.
The council called on AL Secretary-General Ahmed Abul-Gheit to contact the bodies concerned, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to resolve Libyan crisis and stop any military interference.
