Egypt and Lebanon discussed boosting cooperation in the agricultural field, agreeing on the necessity of overcoming obstacles in exports and imports between the two countries.
On Thursday, Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Hassan Lakkis received Thursday Egypt’s ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Olwi, where they discussed arrangements for exporting and importing agriculutal exports.
The meeting came as the season of exporting the Egyptian potato to Lebanon is to start soon.
They discussed exporting Egyptian potatoes and onions to Lebanon, and importing apple from Lebanon.
They also reviewed encouraging the trade exchange of the agricultural goods, which could serve the interests of the two countries and peoples, and consumers as well.
Egypt has been enforcing new regulations and inspection measures to ensure the quality of its agricultural exports.
The volume of Egypt's agricultural exports in the first nine months of 2019 reached approximately 5.4 million tons, according to earlier press statements by the agriculture ministry.
