Egyptian police have raided an office where Turkey’s state-run news agency Anadolu is illegally running its operation in Cairo, arresting four of its staff members.
"Egyptian national security sector had observed one of Turkey's electronic Media committees that took an apartment in Cairo as a hideout for its opposing activity," according to a statement issued by Egypt's interior ministry on Wednesday.
The agency was working under the cover of a company named Seta that had been established by the terrorist Brotherhood group with the support of Turkey, according to the statement.
"it was preparing false and fabricated reports on the political, economy, security, and human rights conditions in Egypt and send it back the agency's headquarters in Turkey," the statement noted.
The raid came upon the permission of the Higher State Security Prosecution.
Financnail manager Helmy Momen, who's Turkish, adminstrative manager Hussein Abdel Fattah, desk editor Hussein Mahmoud and assistant financial manager Abdel Salam Mohamed were arrested.
