Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has called for the acceleration of the road and bridge projects underway in Greater Cairo during a meeting on Sunday with the head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Ehab El-Far, and other top officials.
The projects will help in “facilitating traffic and alleviating the suffering of the citizens” according to a statement published by El-Sisi’s spokesman Bassam Rady.
Rady said that, during the meeting, El-Sisi discussed the progress achieved in the engineering authority’s projects in the New Administrative Capital.
He added that the president also reviewed the progress in a number of the authority’s projects in eastern Cairo neighbourhoods, including roads, axes, bridges, and pedestrian crossing facilities.
According to the statement, the eastern Cairo projects are part of a comprehensive plan for the modernisation and development of Greater Cairo.
