Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received on Monday the heads of Arab intelligence agencies who participated in the Arab Intelligence Forum held on 22-23 February in Cairo.

Egyptian Presidency Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Sunday that President El-Sisi discussed with the attendees the most prominent topics tackled at the forum, focusing on combating terrorism, extremism and organised crime.

Discussions probed into the best practices and methods to effectively confront the threats in a comprehensive manner that takes into account the developmental, social and cultural attributes of the different Arab countries to achieve security and stability.

Rady said that President El-Sisi welcomed the Arab delegations participating in the forum, and emphasised Egypt’s support to the initiatives that aim to boost cooperation between Arab countries.

The Arab Intelligence Forum was held upon the invitation of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service.

Several meetings were held on the sidelines of the forum addressing the risks and threats facing Arab national security.

Among the threats discussed were the plans for dismantling and partitioning Arab states on the basis of ethnicities and sects, as well as the increased threats of foreign interventions in the regional crises, all of which put the unity and territorial integrity of the Arab states at stake.

The meetings also tackled the coordination of efforts between Arab intelligence agencies participating in the Cairo meetings, and the exchange of experiences.

The meetings also aimed at unifying visions and developing mechanisms to combat terrorism and hinder the practices of the states providing legitimate covers for financing and supporting terrorism.
