Egypt's FM, UN secretary-general tackle developments in Libya

Egypt's foreign minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres developments of the Libyan crisis on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

In a phone call, Shoukry and Guterres tackled ways of restoring security and stability in the war-torn country.

The two officials agreed on the importance of appointing a new UN envoy following the resignation of Ghassan Salamé.

They probed ways of coordination between the UN and Egypt regarding other regional and international issues.

Shoukry affirmed Egypt's support to the UN efforts and its vital role in resolving many issues.

The UN chief, in turn, spoke of Egypt's important role, saying that he is looking forward to maintaining consultation and coordination with Egypt in the coming period.
