Egypt reported on Wednesday 169 new coronavirus cases and 12 new fatalities, the country's health ministry said in a statement.
This brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Egypt to 3,659 and the number of deaths to 276.
The health ministry added in its statement that on Wednesday 65 patients – including two foreigners – fully recovered and were discharged from isolation hospitals and quarantine facilities, bringing the total number of recoveries from the virus so far to 935.
The number of patients whose test results have turned from positive to negative, including the complete recoveries, has now reached 1,270, ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said.
The newly detected cases are all Egyptians and they were detected through the ministry’s investigation and contact tracing protocols, Megahed added.
On Tuesday, Egypt’s manpower ministry said that since March, 19 factories have been closed for 14 days and two were temporarily shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Also, 93 other factories have been working on a rotational shift basis to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the ministry added in its statement.
