The formwork of an under-construction bridge in Nasr City collapsed on Thursday evening due to a landslide, Cairo governorate has said.

No people were killed in the incident, which took place in Saa Square, said the governorate.

Videos showing the aftermath of the collapse had gone viral on Egyptian social media.

According to the governorate, three people were transferred to hospital for check-ups after the incident, but were found to be unharmed and were discharged.

“The company constructing the bridge has already removed the collapsed formwork and is continuing working on site in order to finish the project on time,” read the statement.
