Egypt's health ministry reported on Tuesday the highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases with 720 new cases, which is 185 cases bigger than the latest record on Monday with 535 new infections.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country so far to 13,484.
The ministry also reported 14 fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 659.
The health ministry added that 302 patients fully recovered and were discharged from isolation hospitals and quarantine facilities. The total number of recoveries from the highly contagious virus now stands at 3742.
The number of patients whose PCR test results have turned from positive to negative, including complete recoveries, has now reached 4275, ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said.
The new cases were detected through the ministry's investigation and contact tracing protocols, he added.
