Egypt’s Ministry of health has detected 1,218 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday bringing the total number to 50,437
The ministry added that 88 fatalities due to COVID-19; bringing the number of fatalities to 1,938.
The first case of COVID-19 in Egypt was confirmed on 14 February, and though it took seven weeks to reach the milestone of 1,000 infections on 4 April and almost three months to reach the 10,000 mark on 12 May.
The government has imposed a partial curfew since mid-march but since the beginning of June the country has been heading towards a gradual reopening.
On other hand, 387 patients have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals on Thursday.
The ministry said the total number of fully recovered patients has now reached 13,528.
The ministry’s daily report revealed the total number of patients whose PCR analysis results turned from positive to negative including the fully patients reached 14,966.
