Egypt’s Social Solidarity Ministry announced on Thursday that it has allocated EGP 2 million as urgent aid from its Relief Fund to compensate the families that were negatively affected because of the war on terrorism in the villages of Bir Al-Abd area in North Sinai.
North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shosha explained in a statement on Thursday that each family in the villages of the Bir Al-Abd affected by the war on terrorism would receive EGP 500 from the social solidarity ministry.
The governor said that several schools in Bir Al-Abd and Sheikh Zuwayed were equipped with blankets and mattresses to accomodate affected families. He added that hundreds of food cartons have also been distributed to these families.
Last week, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced that it had foiled a terrorist attack targeting a military post near Bir Al-Abd, killing 18 takfiris.
Egypt has been conducting Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018 for the past two years to combat takfiri elements in Norh Sinai.
